The Future of Africa's Broadcasting

About Africast

About Africast

Africa’s Premier Broadcast and Media Event

Africast was established in 1996 by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) of Nigeria as a visionary platform to unite Africa’s broadcasting industry. From its humble beginnings in Abuja, Africast has grown into the continent’s largest and most influential broadcast conference and exhibition, held biennially and attracting global participation.

 A Platform for Progress

Africast was born out of a need to address Africa’s unique broadcasting challenges — from infrastructure gaps to content development and regulatory reform. It quickly became a hub for:

  • Knowledge exchange among broadcasters, regulators, and media professionals
  • Technology exhibitions showcasing innovations in production, transmission, and digital media
  • Policy dialogue shaping the future of African broadcasting

Over the years, Africast has welcomed delegates from over 30 countries, including industry leaders, engineers, academics, and creatives. Its themes have reflected Africa’s evolving media landscape — from digitization and convergence to sustainability and market synergy.
